Abrasive paper, a fundamental tool in the realm of industrial grinding and finishing, plays a crucial role in various industries. It comes in different forms and has distinct characteristics that make it suitable for a wide range of applications.
One of the common types is the traditional sandpaper, where abrasive particles are adhered to paper. This simple yet effective combination allows for efficient grinding and smoothing of surfaces. However, it's important to note that regular sandpaper is generally designed for single-use and does not have the property of water absorption.
When we look at the options available, we find that abrasive particles can also be attached to other materials. Abrasive cloth, for example, provides a more durable and flexible option for certain tasks. And then there is the interesting case of abrasive film attached to PET films, known as abrasive film, and abrasive sponge attached to a sponge, called abrasive sponge. These variations offer unique benefits depending on the specific grinding requirements.
Most sandpapers, if not specially processed, are typically suitable for flat surface grinding only. But by adding a layer of sponge, elastic grinding becomes possible, opening up new possibilities in different applications. This added flexibility allows for more intricate and contoured surface work.
Most sandpapers do not absorb water, there are water-resistant sandpapers available. These can be used for wet grinding, but even then, they do not actively absorb water. Sandpapers are also classified into dry sandpaper and dry-wet sandpaper. If wet grinding is desired, it is necessary to choose the appropriate water-resistant sandpaper.
